4X has always been niche, and there are a fair few such games being released nowadays, though most are either direct sequels or spiritual successors to existing franchises. I used to almost exclusively play those sorts of games, specifically the ones released between 1997-2008, which was the golden age of those two genres imo. Also it got really good reviews but I think maybe the reviewers were busy with other games and tried this and just ’s a good game and moved on.anyways.I hope others find joy in this game because I kinda thought it sucked and I gave it a chance.To me, one of the great tragedies of gaming in the last decade has been the decline of the RTS/4X genres. I’m glad this was on game pass because I really was going to go in blind and purchase this because I how could you go wrong with a hybrid game that mixes xcom and civilizations. Maybe if your an academic powerhouse.you may get a lot from thus game but if your just a gamer looking for fun and a strategic experience not bogged down by whatever is wrong with this game because I just can’t point out what’s wrong with it. Like I said.I’ve played civilizations and xcom and absolutely loved them but this game is just way to deep for me or maybe it just kinda sucks. I thought maybe I just wasn’t in a gaming mood when I first tried it because my wife was feeling a little frisky and I just had to attend to those matters, so I shut it down and I’d give it the proper attention in a day or two.so I fired it back up and started the tutorial again. I loved both civilizations and XCom and after I heard this game is pretty much combined.I thought.this game is going to be awesome.how wrong was I. I’m giving this game an average score because it has incredible depth for the strategy player. The tutorial was not only boring but there is way to much to take in the first few minutes.you just forget what does what. The tutorial was not only boring but This game is not made for your average gamer nor is it made for anyone looking for fast paced gameplay.
